Take Time To Visit With Buddha

There is a lot to do while in Bangkok. The Bangkok nightlife is famous the world over, as are the amazing architectural sites and the beach. But if you are looking for a more leisurely, relaxing day of sightseeing immerse yourself in the beauty of Buddhist temples, called wats. The peace and tranquility of the ornate building with decorative gables and roofs of green and orange tiles, and beautiful crown like windows, conical stupas covered in gold, stucco or ceramic mosaic are a sight to behold.

A site not be be missed is Wat Kalayanamit, which houses Thailand's largest indoor sitting Buddha. The Buddha is 15 meters high (49 feet). Wat Kalayanamit also boasts the highest chofa (roof finial) and biggest bell.

Wat Suthat is another famous wat. Wat Suthat is Bangkok’s tallest vihaan, and houses another awe inspiring Buddha, the 8 meter (26 feet) Phra Sri Sakyamuni Buddha. Walking through the expansive temple compound actually feels like a spiritual journey through a time long past.

To visit Wat Po is to stroll through another world. The temple compound is where the relaxed smile of the famous Reclining Buddha serves to set the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere that will surround you as you marvel at sights the like of which you will see nowhere else in the world.

Stay A While In Bangkok

Bangkok is a destination where you have to plan to spend some time. There is so much to see and do in Bangkok you need to spend at least a week there just to make the slightest of dents in all that the city offers. For example, it takes the better part of a day to shop at the MBK Center, on Phayathai Road. Every product you can imagine is being offered, and at discounts that will have you heading back to your hotel with your arms full, and your wallet not much lighter than when you arrived.

To visit Bangkok as a part of one of those fast paced, see Southeast Asia in a week packaged tours, or on your own but with a rushed itinerary is to cheat yourself out of what could be one of the most memorable vacations of your life. Plan on a visit to Thailand and spend part of it in Bangkok and look here for hotels.
